The Western Sydney Wanderers have the chance to capture their first Powerchair Premiership this Saturday when they take on four-time champions Newcastle Jets.
Tied on 24 points each, the Jets and Wanderers will clash in the final round of the competition to determine the champion as there is no finals series.
A draw is all the Red & Black need to capture their maiden trophy as they are ahead in goal difference.
Powerchair captain Jacob Cross said it would mean a lot to win the club’s first Powerchair title.
“The team has come a long way from our beginnings and the hard work every member of the team has put in is now shining through. Capturing the club’s first premiership would be a huge milestone for us and would be a great achievement for the club”, said Cross.
“We have had our ups and downs but we have ensured that we focus on what we do best and not over complicate things. Continually focusing on our basic football skills and implementing a ground up approach has enabled us to develop our techniques without losing our structure.
“Pulling on the jersey and knowing that I represent the Western Sydney Wanderers is amazing. Being a part of the club – not only on the field but in the community – is another significant moment in my time at the club: seeing the difference the club makes to communities around Western Sydney really cements why it is so special to represent this club.”
