The Western Sydney Wanderers FNSW League One side travel to face St George FC at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre on Saturday night with hopes they can continue their run in the competition.
The Wanderers are enjoying a strong run of form recently, winning their last three games and scoring 13 goals.
Their last match against SD Raiders was a goalfest, and they eventually emerged 4-3 winners thanks to a George Daniel strike late in the game.
The Wanderers will be heartened by the fact that key attackers Alessandro Lopane, Alex Badolato and Zac Sapsford all got on the scoresheet last week; Sapsford in particular has elevated the team to another level since arriving in a mid-season transfer.
Their opponents – currently in seventh place – have only won one of their last five games, with that victory coming in the last round against Mounties Wanderers as they won 4-0 away from home.
They cannot be taken lightly, though, as they gave the Wanderers a scare in the reverse fixture.
In that match, St George were in the lead for large portions of the match, before a Nectar Triantis goal and a late Connor Rose penalty secured a come from behind 3-2 victory for the Wanderers.
This time, the Saints will have talismanic captain Jacob Bandur marshalling the defence, and they will be looking to Anthony Morabito for goals, with the forward having nine for the season.
To combat that threat, the Wanderers will be relying on Alex Bonetig, with the defender being in encouraging form since his return from injury.
