FFA determined today that Mitch Nichols breached the FFA National Code of Conduct.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) determined today that Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s player, Mitch Nichols, breached the FFA National Code of Conduct (the Code) by his actions after the Hyundai A-League Semi-Final match between Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Brisbane Roar FC on 24 April 2016.

Nichols made an offensive gesture to the crowd after the completion of the match.

Nichols was asked to make a submission to FFA in response to the allegation by 5pm Wednesday, 4 May 2016.

FFA determined to sanction Nichols with a $1,000 fine.  In determining the sanction, FFA took into account that Nichols:

  • accepted that his conduct was unacceptable; and
  • is remorseful and apologetic for his conduct

In addition, FFA has warned Nichols that any further breach of the Code could result in more severe sanctions being applied.

Nichols has seven business days to appeal FFA’s determination, should he wish to do so.
