Gordon on representing hometown club for very first time

Wanderers new Liberty A-League signing Bethany Gordon on wearing the Red & Black hoops for the very first time in her career and forging a path in the domestic competition.

Gordon comes to the Wanderers this season after stints in the Liberty A-Leagues with Newcastle Jets and Canberra United where she learnt a number of lessons in the formative years of her career.

“I’ve learnt a number of valuable lessons within life and football from both experiences while living in two different cities,” explained Gordon.

“I will draw upon some of the experiences of the senior players and international players I had played with at those clubs and look to bring that into my own game and to the team.”

During the Liberty A-League off-season, Gordon heavily featured in Football NSW National Premier League Championship side Macarthur Rams where she scored three goals in 22 matches.

This season will mark the first time Gordon will play for her local Liberty A-League side, the Wanderers, achieving one of her lifelong goals.

“I was born and raised a Western Sydney girl, always with the aspirations to play for my local A-League team,” said Gordon.

“This gives me a great sense of fulfilment to be representing Western Sydney and the Red & Black.”

With less than 20 days to go until the Wanderers kick off their Liberty A-League campaign, Gordon is confident in instilling a winning mentality in the squad.

“I want to maximise my minutes and focus on enjoying the season ahead,” said Gordon.

“As a team, I want us to be winners. Week in and week out.

“I want us to have the mentality to push for three points.”
