The NPL2 First Grade team is made up of the Wanderers’ Foxtel National Youth League team with up to three Hyundai A-League players allowed to be registered as long as they were born after 1 January 1993 and have started no more than ten matches in the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

CEO John Tsatsimas said this was a big moment for football in Western Sydney.

“This weekend marks a massive step in our evolution as a football club and as a league,” said Tsatsimas.

“The Wanderers Academy creates a clear and direct pathway from juniors and grassroots football to the highest level in Australia and Asia and we believe will complement what Western Sydney’s foundation clubs have built before and since the NSL was dissolved.

“Starting this Sunday, Western Sydney Wanderers will be represented in every age group in Football NSW’s NPL competition; a big step forward for football and development in this region.

“We have said from day one that we are here to make a difference in our community – to create an internationally recognised and respected football club. Our academy and the pathway it creates is a huge step to achieving our mission.”
