The Western Sydney Wanderers Schools Cup reaches its peak next week when the Boys and Girls Years 7/8 Finals are played.

Open to all schools in Western Sydney, the regional qualifiers kicked-off in May and took in schools from Nepean, Bankstown, Granville, Blacktown, Southern Districts, Gladesville-Hornsby and Macarthur to decide the finalists.

The teams who are left will be separated into two pools with winners to face each other to decide the Wanderers School Cup Champions for 2015.

The finals will be held at Blacktown Football Park on Tuesday 27 October.

The main focus of the competition is to have a fun and enjoyable experience for staff, referees and students while being able to challenge other schools in Western Sydney.

CEO John Tsatsimas said the continuation of the Wanderers Schools Cup is good for Western Sydney.

“Now in its third year the Wanderers Schools Cup is another chance for our club to give back to the community and help ensure football is accessible to everyone growing up in Western Sydney,” explained Tsatsimas.

“We saw the diversity and talent in our region during the Wanderers Community Asian Cup and now we’re continuing that legacy by giving the opportunity for school-aged children to participate in a similar tournament.

“Football is the lifeblood of so many families in Western Sydney and the Wanderers Schools Cup will help grow a child’s love affair with football while keeping kids healthy, active and engaged.”
