Season One – 2012/13
Round 4: Roar 0-1 WSW
Playing against the current Champions and without a point to our name we were not given much hope. That all changed though as Mark Bridge scored our first ever goal in the Hyundai A-League to set-up our first ever win.
Round 10: WSW 1-0 Roar
The match looked to be a stalemate until Dino Kresinger was downed in the box by Matthew Jurman. Up stood Shinji Ono to score an 87th minute winner and in the process score his first goal in Red & Black.
Round 17: Roar 1-2 WSW
With Roar looking for revenge after our first two wins we fell behind in the 22nd minute. That was until a rapid two-fire brought a third straight victory as Bridge then Hersi scored within five minutes of each other.
Semi-Final: WSW 2-0 Roar
Possibly our two most famous goals in our first ever finals match. Kresinger scored an incredible back heel to give us the lead before a magical chip shot by Ono sent everyone into delirium and us into the Grand Final.
Season Two – 2013/14
Round 7: Roar 3-1 WSW
Brendon Santalab scored his first goal for the club with a classy finish to make it 2-1 but the damage was done and it was not enough as an impressive opening ten minutes saw the Roar claim the win.
Round 18: WSW 1-1 Roar
Labinot Haliti is an emotional player. So when he scored an 85th minute equaliser against the league leaders in front of a sell-out crowd his shirt had no chance. In went the ball, off went the shirt and the points were shared.
Round 26: WSW 1-1 Roar
Needing a result to stand a chance of finishing in the top two, things were looking shaky as Liam Miller put the visitors in front but on the hour mark Tomi Juric banged home into the corner after great work by Mark Bridge.
Grand Final: Roar 2-1 WSW
Not a bad time to score your first goal for a club. In a sold out Grand Final in hostile territory Matthew Spiranovic seemed to defy physics as his headed effort from a corner somehow opened the scoring.
