Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the scholarship signing of forward Jordan Swibel until the end of the ISUZU Ute A-League 2021/22 season.
Swibel, who has been trialling with the club since the start of pre-season, was previously at the club’s cross-town rivals set-up where he played in their National Premier League and first-team.
The 22-year-old recently featured in the Red & Black’s first pre-season friendly this season against Central Coast Mariners where he got on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory.
Head coach Carl Robinson congratulated Swibel on the scholarship deal.
“Jordan is a young forward that we have seen in action over the last few months and have spent a great deal of time getting to know both on and off the field,” said Robinson.
“Swibel fits the profile of what we are looking for in young players at our club and it is an area which we feel we were a little light with the busy season ahead.
“We are excited to watch his development over the next two seasons.”
Jordan Swibel said he was delighted for the opportunity.
“The boys here have been fantastic ever since the first day that I’ve come in. They’ve been good in helping me on and off the pitch and I knew a couple of the boys having played with them and against them.
“It’s been a fantastic opportunity for me so I’ve been really enjoying it.
“The facilities are world-class, incredible pitches and gym facilities so that makes your job easier as a footballer.
“I want to play as much as I can, it sounds cliché, but I just want to get a lot of minutes. I haven’t made my A-League starting debut which is something that I want to do.
“I’m here to score goals and that’s something I want to do and love doing as a footballer. That’s what I’m here to do.”
