Western Sydney Wanderers host 13th Annual Parliamentary Friends of the Wanderers Event

Western Sydney Wanderers FC recently hosted the 13th annual Parliamentary Friends of the Wanderers event at the Parliament of New South Wales, bringing together Members of Parliament, club representatives, and players to celebrate the positive impact of football across Western Sydney.

The Parliamentary Friends of the Wanderers is a bipartisan group of New South Wales Members of Parliament who share a passion for football and a commitment to supporting the game’s growth at both the grassroots and elite levels.

The group was established to recognise the role that sport plays in fostering social connection, promoting inclusion, and creating opportunities for young people in Western Sydney.

This year’s event was timed to coincide with the commencement of the club’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Ninja A-League Women’s seasons.

A number of players from both teams were in attendance, alongside club executives, and members of the wider Wanderers community. Guests had the opportunity to hear about the club’s upcoming season, community priorities, and initiatives aimed at expanding participation and engagement across the region.

The Wanderers were honoured to welcome Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum, reflecting the shared recognition of football’s unifying power and its ability to inspire the next generation of athletes and fans.

The event also served as a platform to highlight the club’s long-standing partnerships with government, community organisations, and local councils.

Western Sydney Wanderers would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the NSW Government, whose investment and collaboration have been instrumental in delivering a range of community programs and initiatives.

These include the club’s After-School and Mobile Schools programs, as well as broader activities aimed at increasing participation among women and girls, people with disability, and multicultural and Indigenous communities.

Through these initiatives, the Wanderers continue to champion inclusion and accessibility in sport, reinforcing their commitment to using football as a vehicle for social change and community development across Western Sydney.
