Western Sydney Wanderers produced a determined performance in Saturday night’s Isuzu UTE A-League clash against Macarthur at Campbelltown Stadium, earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
Macarthur struck early, with Harry Sawyer opening the scoring in just the second minute, putting the Wanderers on the back foot.
Despite the early setback, the home side pressed forward, creating several chances. Kosta Barbarouses and Alou Kuol both tested the Macarthur defence inside the box, while Bozhidar Kraev impressed with a brilliant turn and a curling effort from range that narrowly went over the bar.
Alex Gersbach also caused repeated problems with dangerous deliveries from wide areas.
A triple change in the second half brought Dylan Scicluna, Aydan Hammond, and Nate Barrie onto the field, boosting the Wanderers’ energy and attacking threat.
Anthony Pantazopoulos’ persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when he rose at the back post to head home the equaliser, sending the home crowd into raptures.

Hammond and the substitutes continued to push forward, with Kurto in the Macarthur goal making crucial saves late on.
The draw showcased the Wanderers’ resilience, attacking intent, and ability to respond under pressure.
While the points were shared, there are plenty of positives to take from the performance as the team looks ahead in the 2025/26 season.
