Ins & Outs: Mariners v Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Geoff Abrahams has named his extended squad for Saturday afternoon’s clash against Central Coast Mariners at Polytec Stadium.

The Wanderers return to Polytec Stadium on Saturday afternoon to face Central Coast Mariners in what promises to be another competitive Ninja A-League clash. After sharing the points with Brisbane Roar in a 1-1 draw last Friday, thanks to a late goal from Ella Buchanan, the Red & Black will be looking to build on that second-half performance and convert momentum into a full 90-minute display.

The Mariners arrive off the back of a thrilling 1-1 draw with Perth Glory, with midfielder Peta Trimis scoring a clever late equaliser. Golden Boot leader Annalise Rasmussen continues to pose a major attacking threat, and the Mariners’ ability to capitalise on quick moments and maintain attacking pressure will test the Wanderers’ defence.

In the previous meeting between these sides in December, Central Coast ran out 2-1 winners, despite a late strike from Talia Younis sparking hope of a comeback. That performance highlighted the Wanderers’ growing resilience and attacking intent, traits they will need to display in full this Saturday.
