Rose selected in CommBank Young Socceroos squad for ASEAN U-19 Championship

Wanderers forward Jai Rose has been selected in the CommBank Young Socceroos 23-player squad for the upcoming 2026 ASEAN U-19 Boys’ Championship to be held in Medan, Indonesia this June.

The selection marks another exciting milestone for the talented young Wanderer, who continues to impress through his performances and development within the club’s academy pathway.

CommBank Young Socceroos Head Coach Trevor Morgan has named a squad featuring a mix of emerging talent and established youth internationals as Australia prepares for the tournament and builds towards the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers later this year.

Rose joins a squad that includes 13 players from the recent Australia–China Friendship Series in March, with the tournament set to provide valuable international experience in a competitive environment.

Speaking on the squad selection, Morgan said the championship would play an important role in building depth and cohesion within the national team program.

“With our focus firmly on qualifying for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027, this tournament presents an opportunity to broaden our squad and build greater depth within the program,” Morgan said.

“We’re looking to increase the number of players with international experience in a tournament setting.

“This is a great opportunity to test the team in tournament conditions before qualification begins, so it’s important we continue to build cohesion while also assessing new talent within the framework of our playing style and expectations.”

Everyone at the Wanderers would like to congratulate Jai on his selection and wish him all the best for the tournament in Indonesia.
