Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the signing of Championship-winning defender Germán Ferrerya, with the Argentine centre-back joining the Red & black on a 3-year deal.
A proven winner with fierce competitive-edge, Ferrerya arrives in Western Sydney following a successful two-year spell with Melbourne City, where he played a key role in their 2024/25 Championship triumph.
The powerful centre-back made 61 appearances across all competitions for City, establishing himself as a leader in their defensive line and delivering when it mattered most throughout their title-winning campaign.
Ferreyra played a decisive role in City’s Championship success, scoring two crucial goals late in the season, including a dramatic winner against Brisbane Roar before finding the net again in the Semi Final victory over Western United to secure a place in the Grand Final.
The Argentine also showcased his ability on the continental stage, playing every minute but one of City’s AFC Champions League Elite campaign and starting each match against some of Asia’s strongest opposition.
Known for his strength, power and uncompromising style of defending, Ferreyra brings valuable experience, leadership and a winning mentality to the Wanderers squad as the Club continues to build towards the new season.
Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said Ferrerya’s winning mentality and leadership qualities made him an important addition to the squad.

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Ufuk Talay said Ferreyra’s mentality and competitive nature were key attributes that attracted the Club to the defender.

Gérman said he was looking forward to having a competitive season with the Wanderers.
“I hope we can have a competitive season with an improvement on last season and be fighting for the top spot,” said Ferrerya.
“It will be difficult, but the squad is preparing really well for the season.
