Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce Rhianna Pollicina as Captain of the Club’s Ninja A-League Women squad for the 2026/27 season, leading a six-player leadership group entrusted with setting the standards for a new chapter in Red & Black.
Pollicina will be supported by Tiana Jaber as Vice-Captain, with Tegan Bertolissio, Sarah Langman, Elexa Bahr and Brooke Miller completing the leadership group.
The appointments mark an important step for the Wanderers ahead of the new campaign, bringing together a group of players whose experience, character and determination will be central to establishing the standards and identity of the squad.
For Pollicina, the captaincy represents an opportunity to lead a playing group determined to embrace the challenge ahead, united by a shared responsibility to represent the Club and the people of Western Sydney with pride.
Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said the appointments reflected the Club’s commitment to building a strong and united playing group.
“We’ve brought together a leadership group with a strong balance of experience, character and ambition,” said Impiombato.
“Rhianna and the players around her have an important role in driving the standards we expect at this Club, both on and off the pitch. We’re confident they will set the tone for the season ahead.”
Head Coach Geoff Abrahams said the leadership group had been selected to reflect the culture and expectations being established within the squad.
“Leadership is about much more than wearing an armband. It’s about the standards you set every day, the way you carry yourself through difficult moments and the responsibility you take for the people around you,” said Abrahams.
“Rhianna has the qualities we want at the forefront of this group. She’s driven, she’s demanding and she understands that leadership comes with a responsibility to bring others along with you.
“Tiana brings another important voice to that leadership, and together with Tegan, Sarah, Elexa and Brooke, we’ve got a group of players who will challenge each other, support their teammates and hold themselves accountable.
“We’re building a team that is prepared to work for everything it gets. Nothing is going to be handed to us, and we want our leaders to embrace that mentality and make sure it runs right through the squad.
“There’s a real opportunity in front of this group to establish what it means to represent the Wanderers, and I’m confident these players will lead that charge.”
The Wanderers will begin their 2026/27 Ninja A-League Women campaign against Melbourne Victory at Wanderers Football Park on Saturday 17 October, with the newly appointed leadership group set to lead the squad into the opening fixture.
