Defender Adam D-apuzzo is enjoying his time at the Wanderers and believes the cohesion and structure is coming together beautifully as we head towards round one.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes against the Newcastle Jets on Saturday and knows they will have to get used to matches like that every week.

“We are keeping our line and structure so that is working well,” he said. “I-ve played with Topor (Nikolai Topor-Stanley) for the last couple of years so we have that relationship but with Megsy (Michael Beauchamp) there as well working with the right back, whether it be Tarek (Elrich) or Jerome (Polenz) we-ll prove to be a good defensive wall for the opposition to come up against.”

The Newcastle Jets did get the jump on the Wanderers with a couple of early chances and ultimately the opening goal in the ninth minute but it was a much better second half where the Wanderers seemed to control the match and have it over the Jets.

“They definitely got the jump on us in the first half and it may have been a few freeway jitters but the second half we controlled everything a lot better and got the goal we needed.”

It was D-apuzzo who ultimately set-up the goal for Croatian Dino Kresinger but he said it was timely after a few errors in that regard during the first half.

“I wanted to make up for a couple of bad crosses in the first half so it wasn-t a bad ball and Dino did well to get up and put it into the right corner.”
