Today-s release of the official Hyundai A-League 2012/13 Season Draw is another significant day in the genesis of the Hyundai A-League-s newest football club that will represent Western Sydney.

Mark down Saturday 6 October as the day that we will kick-off our competitive life at home against the Central Coast Mariners.

Our next home match will be on the 20th October against our closest rivals Sydney FC in the first ever Sydney derby in the Hyundai A-League. We will also host the Sydney derby in the penultimate round of the Hyundai A-League 2012/13 Season on Saturday 23 March 2013.

You will notice that the official Hyundai A-League 2012/13 season draw released today has our name as “Western Sydney” and our home venue “To Be Advised”.

This is a place holder name for the purposes of releasing the draw, but I can confirm that our new club will have the term “Western Sydney” in the title as the majority of fans surveyed expressed a desire to have those exact words included.

Many fans have asked why we have taken our time in announcing the official club name, logo colours and home venue. The major reason for that is that as with any new business, especially as one as important as this one is to everyone, the early key decisions of a business are critical for its successful future and time simply must be taken to get them right.

Since the new club representing Western Sydney was announced on the 4th April, we have been working feverishly behind the scenes to build the club from the ground up. Our focus, before making any official announcements, has been to put in place those building blocks that will ensure a long and bright future for our club including all the necessary legal and business processes, so that we can for example, properly commercialise our name, colors and logo and simultaneously be certain that our venue strategy will properly underpin our future financial stability.

We listened to our stakeholders through a series of fan forums and an extensive market research campaign.

On May 17 we appointed our foundation Head Coach Tony Popovic who has also been working hard to sign players to his inaugural squad. I am pleased to say that Tony is well advanced with a number of players agreeing to join the club with their official announcements to be made in the very near future.

Of course the most important announcement for us to make is the official club name, club logo and club colours.

As this is such a big event in the life of the club, we needed to have a stand-alone event to accomplish this feat.

It gives me great pleasure to confirm that the official club name, club logo and club colours will be formally announced next Monday 25 June.

I thank you all for your support and look forward to an exciting season ahead.
