Wanderers Hyundai A-League head coach Josep Gombau says he was happy with the team’s performance against Melbourne City on Sunday night.
Gombau’s men held onto a 1-1 draw against City in the Spaniard’s first match in charge and only had limited time to prepare for the match having played on Monday night against Victory.
Despite this, Gombau said that the team did very well to implement his new ideas and tactics.
“I think that with three training sessions we tried to play the way we wanted to play and that’s important,” said Gombau.
“I am proud of the work the boys put in the park.”
Having only taken the Red & Black this week, Gombau insisted that it will take time for the team to transition to the new style of play.
“I am happy with the performance my team has played.
“We will work hard to try to put our ideas in my mind onto the pitch.
“I am so happy with the team working, I am so proud and we will work step-by-step.
“Now we need to analyse this game, see where we can improve and bring in some new moment.”
After playing their last four Hyundai A-League matches away from home, the Wanderers return to Spotless Stadium this Saturday night for their annual White Ribbon match.
