The decision not to play the Western Sydney Wanderers vs Wellington Phoenix A-League football match tomorrow (November 18) was solely because of concerns about the condition of parts of the playing surface in Spotless Stadium.
The decision was made following a Thursday evening inspection of the playing surface by officials from Football Federation Australia and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Contrary to some social media comments circulating today, the cancellation of the match has nothing to do with the set-up of the following weekend’s “Sensation” event. The license period for organisers of Sensation does not begin until Sunday, November 19, so there will be no “bumping in” of that event until then.
