Chipping Norton junior Brendan Hamill says it is an honour to be part of the team’s new Captaincy Group alongside Robbie Cornthwaite and Mark Bridge.
Born and bred in Western Sydney, Hamill spent his formative football years in the South-West of Sydney at Chipping Norton FC before moving around through various state league sides.
Hamill joined the Wanderers from K-League side Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in 2014 and was an integral part of the Wanderers Asian Champions League victory.
Hamill’s selection in the Captaincy Group came from the votes of his fellow teammates, something which means a lot to the boy from Western Sydney.
“It’s special, I grew up in Western Sydney and I was born and raised here,” said Hamill.
“To be elected from your peers as one of the Vice-Captains is special and I’m honoured.
“There are many leaders in this group and we’ve got a strong united group.
“Josep has come in and appointed three in the leadership group and we’ve got a philosophy to learn and take on.”
With Gombau implementing both a new Captaincy Group and a new style of play, Hamill says that nothing else has changed at the Red & Black.
“It will take time to adapt to a few changes but nothing changes.
“The winning mentality and the togetherness is bred into the club and the boys are working hard.
“We’re a tight knit group, and in my time here, it’s the tightest group we’ve had and I truly mean that.
“Everyone is working hard to implement what Josep wants us to do, together we are very tight and only success is ahead of us.”
