Jack Clisby says the team has been training hard ahead of Saturday night’s match against Central Coast Mariners.
The Wanderers have switched their focus to this weekend’s match against the Mariners after a very disappointing result in last weekend’s Sydney Derby.
With a full week to prepare for the match, Clisby says that the team has had to get over and move on from the result very quickly.
“Obviously, it was a disappointing result last week and we’ve had to move past that pretty quickly,” said Clisby.
“I feel like we’ve turned that around this week in training and there have been positive signs, it’s a very important game for us this weekend.”
It has been a testing time for the Red & Black who are still searching for their first win under head coach Josep Gombau.
Despite some of the challenges, Clisby says that the camaraderie has never been stronger.
“We’re a tight bunch of lads and we know we aren’t in the best position that we want to be in at the moment,” said Clisby.
“We know we’ve got to stick together and we’re all mates, so we are all going to work for each other.
“That’s one thing we do have – good team camaraderie.”
The team has set their sights on this Saturday’s match against and are expecting a tough battle against the Mariners.
“We know they are a good footballing side,” said Clisby.
“They like to have a lot of possession of the ball and without giving away too much, we can’t allow them too much time on the ball to dominate the game.
“I think the intensity of our defending is going to be key.
“All we can do is keep trying to progress with this style of play that we are trying to play.”
