FFA Cup Round of 16 confirmed: APIA Leichhardt v Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers FC will take on APIA Leichhardt on Tuesday 7 December at Leichhardt Oval in the FFA Cup Round of 16.

APIA Leichhardt are into the FFA Cup Round of 16 after an absolutely enthralling win over Tigers FC last night.

Tigers FC received two red cards and were playing with nine, but it took APIA until the 113th minute to break the deadlock, following a sensational performance from the Tigers defence & goalkeeper Jakob Cole.

APIA then used their numerical advantage to add two further goals in extra time, after the match somehow finished 0-0 at the end of the 90.

The Wanderers booked their place in the Round of 16 back in early November following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Broadmeadow Magic.

The Wanderers made light work of their NPL Northern NSW opponents at a rain-soaked Newcastle No 2 Sportsground, scoring all three goals before the hour mark to secure their advance to the next round.

Carl Robinson’s side threatened from the get-go and took a deserved lead midway through the half when Bernie Ibini pounced on a fumbled save to convert at close range.

The Magic steadied the ship to keep the margin to a single goal at the break before the Wanderers ran away with the contest in the second stanza.
