Wanderers defender Brendan Hamill believes the team will need to have a strong mentality and attitude in this Sunday’s match against Wellington and says the team has banded together to support teammate Jonathan Aspropotamitis.

The Wanderers return to ANZ Stadium this Sunday for their Round 7 rescheduled match against Wellington Phoenix.
The Red & Black come into the match after a confident win up at the Central Coast, which saw them defeat the Mariners 2-1.
Hamill believes the mentality of the team reflected their great performance and hopes that this is something they can repeat when it comes to Sunday.
“The boys did well. I think the biggest thing was our mentality and attitude towards the game,” said Hamill.
“We need to continue that for the rest of the season, it’s a non-negotiable for us.
“It’s vital that we go out to every game with the same mentality as we did against the Central Coast.”
With a game in hand, it’s crucial that the Wanderers win this Sunday’s match to not only consolidate their place in the Top Six but also make a push further up the ladder argues Hamill.
“I think the boys have really come together this week. We worked extra hard and we know how important these last run of games are to get some good form and get the three points.
“We take it game-by-game but we know what’s at stake. We want to push up the table as much as we can.
“We’ve got the game in hand and can go three points closer to fifth place and that’s our goal.
“We played Wellington a few weeks ago, no games easy in this league and any team can win. We will have to show up on the day, roll our sleeves up and put in a good performance.”
The Wanderers will be without Jonathan Aspropotamitis, who will no longer be up for team selection after rupturing his ACL.
Hamill says the team have banded together to support him in his journey back in recovery.
“It’s always sad to hear someone rupturing their ACL. The boys have really gotten around him,” said Hamill.
“He’s in a good place, good medical staff and good coaching staff to support him.
“He’s a true professional Aspro and he’ll be back bigger and stronger.”
