The Red & Black will be heading into the match filled with confidence after earning their first three points of the season in a hard-fought hit-out against Brisbane Roar last weekend.
For Cannuli and the Wanderers, the win was the culmination of all the hard work the team has been putting in at training with hopes that this can spur some momentum in their remaining games.
“It was a relief to get those first three points,” said Cannuli.
“I think the girls have been working super hard and I think it’s been coming.
“Now they can relax and ease into the rest of the competition.”
Like all teams in the Liberty A-League this season, the Wanderers have had to manage multiple changes to the fixture as well as players missing training and matches due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
“It’s crazy times, but you know it’s crazy times for everyone,” said Cannuli who was even in isolation for one of the Wanderers matches this season.
“We’re taking each day as it comes and we’re just dealing with what we can deal with at each time.
“We’ve spoken about things we can control and things we can’t control, and I think it’s super important that we keep focusing day-by-day and doing what we can.”
The Wanderers will next face third-placed Melbourne Victory who are undefeated in their last three Liberty A-League matches.
“The girls know we are going into the match to get three points,” said Cannuli.
“Victory are not going to be easy to beat, like I’ve always said every game that we play in the A-League women’s is going to be a tough game and you don’t just walk out there and get three points.”
