Hamill: Win at all costs

Wanderers captain Brendan Hamill has stated his intent ahead of Saturday’s epic FFA Cup Semi Final Sydney Derby.

The Wanderers will face off against Sydney FC for the first time in FFA Cup history with a place in the Final on the line in the blockbuster fixture.

Wanderers defender and captain Brendan Hamill believes the team are in a better place compared to last season and are ready to get the job done on Saturday night.

“This year, we’re better than we were last year. Question is, are they?” said Hamill.

“It’s going to be interesting but we will be ready and we’ll be putting our front foot forward.

“What’s at stake is a final in the FFA Cup and a chance at lifting silverware. At the end of the day, we’ve gotta do what we gotta do.

“If that’s extra time, penalties, 90 minutes whatever it is.

“As long as we win, especially being the captain, as long as we lift that trophy, win at all costs. That’s what the plan is.”

The match will mark a special Sydney Derby for Hamill who will don the captain’s armband for his hometown club, but he insists he will be the same as anyone else on the park.

“It’s exciting, it’s not really different to any of the boys in the team. I just want to get out there,” said Hamill.

“Obviously, being the skip and being born and bred in Western Sydney, to go out and captain your club in a Derby… I won’t take it for granted and I never do playing for this club.

“At the end of the day, I’ve got a job to do and I’m just looking to go out and do my job. As long as everyone does their job we will be fine.”
