Nico Martínez says the Red & Black’s victory over City on Friday all came down to the team’s spirit, but the boys won’t get ahead of themselves when looking to continue their winning ways on Saturday.

The Wanderers are on the cusp of qualifying for the finals after two very dominant performances at home earned them a total of six points, a result which Nico Martínez is very proud of.

“I think it was a nice performance from the team, especially as we played against one of the best teams in the Hyundai A-League.

“We played good football, we were smart and we knew how to play against them.

“Luckily, we won and got the three points so now we have to re-focus on the next game,” said Martínez.

Despite having a rollercoaster of a season, the Argentinian playmaker assures that the team spirit is high heading into Saturday’s clash against Newcastle with recent results giving their confidence an extra boost.

“We run for each other, we fight for each other and we must continue like this and stay humble,” he said.

With only three matches left for the Wanderers in the regular season, Martínez says that the team is ready for the challenges ahead and it is something that they have been preparing for all season.

“It’s not going to be easy and we have to remember our position three games ago.

“We must stay humble and then we can achieve big things.”
