Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today announced the signing of Swiss goalkeeper Daniel Lopar on a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old joins the Wanderers from Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen where he has played for the last 13 years, playing 299 competitive matches for the club.

The veteran shot-stopper is set to play abroad for the very first time in his career with the Red & Black.

Lopar said he was excited to land down under and be part of the Wanderers family this upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

“I’m very happy to be part of the Western Sydney Wanderers. I have heard and seen that their fans are amazing and very enthusiastic,” said Lopar.

“It will be also an honour for me to play in the new stadium and I am very thankful for the opportunity to see Australia and its culture.

“The club has big aims for next season and I will work hard to achieve these with my new team mates.”

Lopar joins recent acquisition, Swiss countryman Pirmin Schwegler, at the Wanderers for the 2019/20 season.
