Round 22 Preview: Wanderers vs Adelaide

Last year’s Grand Finalists will clash for the second time this Hyundai A-League season when the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers welcome Adelaide United to Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.

Tickets to the match are available here.

With just five games remaining in the regular season, the stakes are high for both sides; the Wanderers looking to cement themselves in the top six and Adelaide hoping to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

The sixth-placed Wanderers sit 10 points above the bottom-placed Reds and a loss for the away side could signal the end of their season.

It promises to be a tight affair though, with only nine goals having been scored in the last five clashes between the pair.

Round 2’s game at Coopers Stadium was the last fixture between the Wanderers and Adelaide, with the Red & Black stealing all three points thanks to a second half Brendon Santalab double.

Santalab will be hoping to re-take his place in the line-up having sat out of Tuesday night’s 5-1 loss to Shanghai SIPG in China.

Like the Wanderers, Adelaide will be mindful of the toll of midweek Champions League travel, where they too were defeated in China by Jiangsu Sainty on Wednesday night.
