Wanderers head coach Jean-Paul de Marigny (JP) on picking up three points against Wellington and the importance of repeating the performance.
Heading into the clash against Wellington, the Wanderers were deemed the underdogs, using that to their advantage to grind out a 1-0 victory over second-placed Phoenix.
It wasn’t the prettiest win for the Red & Black but the result has the ingredients to give them momentum in their push for a place in the Finals Series.
“It was a great performance by the group,” said JP.
“They were very disciplined and we have no doubt with where we want to go.”
The victory has propelled the Wanderers up to eighth place, four points behind sixth-placed Adelaide United with a game in hand.
“It’s all about points and that’s what we’re chasing,” explained JP.
“If we continue to perform like we perform, we’re a good unit.
“This group doesn’t want to lose games and their mentality and mindset is towards that.
“I’m very proud of them.”
The Wanderers will now have a quick turnaround to their next match against Perth Glory on Tuesday night at Wanderland. Catch all the action live from 7:30pm on FOX SPORTS, Kayo and the My Football Live App.
