McGowan and the Wanderers head into the match tonight against Perth filled with confidence after securing an important win and clean sheet just three days ago against Perth.
The result has also given a lifeline for the club’s Finals Series ambitions.
“We kind of need to rely on some other results and that’s the way it is,” said McGowan.
“I think with how tight the Top Six are, if we just focus on ourselves we’ll end up there.
“You can take the positives out of Wellington. But we have been working towards more positive performances since JP (head coach Jean-Paul de Marigny) took over.”
Tonight’s match will be even more special for the vice captain, who was first on the scene in teammate Nicolai Muller’s horrific head clash last week against Wellington, using that as motivation to get the job done tonight against Perth.
“It was one of those moments where you saw his armed locked and we knew we had to alert the medical staff,” said McGowan.
“I think the medical team here at the Wanderers did a fantastic job and the whole team wishes him the best in his recovery.
“We hope we can put on a good performance for him and I hope it something that he would be proud of.”
