The Wanderers Academy youth teams faced Bonnyrigg over the weekend and came out the better side in majority of the matches.
Under 13s
9-0 win
The Red & Black enjoyed the match and controlled the game from the first whistle. The Wanderers dominated every area on the park and could have added more to the goal tally. Goal scorers included a hat-trick from Christian Lardieri, doubles from Riley Nolan and Ashwell Starr, as well as solo goals from Stefan Markovski and Leon Alizart.
Under 14s
2-0 win
It was a steady first half performance by the U14s who maintained good periods of possession and created chances on goal without converting. The Wanderers were very good to quickly close down and minimise any opposition build-ups/attacks. Going into halftime at 0-0, the players were frustrated and did not have anything to show for their first-half efforts. Eventually during the second half, the Red & Black found a way through with a superbly executed effort from Jack Lovell from distance. Max Hately then earned a penalty when he attacked the opposition with the ball at this feet to be brought down in the penalty area. Jack Lovell took the penalty for his brace.
Under 15s
8-0 win
A huge 8-0 win against an improving Bonnyrigg side was achieved through a very professional and consistent 70 minute performance. The entire team performance well with the standouts being Owen Henderson, Edmun Haddad, Miguel Dipizio and Will McKay. Doubles were scored by Filip Dimovski, Dean Bosnjak and Haddad while George Jabbour and Dipizo got on the scoresheet.
Under 16s
2-1 win
It was a match where the Wanderers had to deal with an opposition that sat deep and narrow with all men behind the ball, planning to hit on the counter. Fortunately, the Red & Black were smart and were able to create enough chances to take the game 2-1. Goals from Jessie Photi and Jason Cacovski ensured the Wanderers won the fixture. A special mention must go to the U16s goalkeeper Jessie Husoy who had a great game in between the sticks but was unfortunately taken to hospital due to a head knock in the last minute of the match. Thankfully Jessie has recovered well.
U18s
2-1 loss
The U18s played out in a dramatic match against Bonnyrigg with both teams heading into the sheds 0-0 at the break. A Jake Lavelle goal early on in the second half put the Wanderers 1-0 up, but two red cards to the Wanderers in the second half allowed Bonnyrigg to capitalise on 9-men, scoring a penalty and a free-kick late on to win 2-1.
