The Wanderers Academy youth teams took on Blacktown City in the National Premier League over the weekend.
U13s coached by Peter Kofinas
2-0 win against Blacktown City
It was a highly anticipated match against Blacktown with the opponents consistently producing good players and strong game plans every season. While Blacktown did create problems in moments throughout the game, the youngsters stayed positive, solved any problems and regained control of the game. After a number of chances created, the Red & Black opened up the scoring through a solo run by Kyan Andreotti which opened up the match. A nicely worked team goal, scored by Ashwell Starr, secured the win and wrapped up the match.
U14s coached by Rob Bradshaw
3-0 win against Blacktown City
The U14s had one of their best performances in a half of football with the side showing massive improvements in their link-up play and selflessness. All three goals were scored in a dominant first half with Drew Maxwell opening up the scoring with a fantastic finish from an acute angle. This was after Jack Lovell did well to win the ball back quickly from Blacktown and play onto Maxwell. Jack Lovell then doubled the lead, after a nice finish from a well executed pass by Tommy Hynes. Max Hately then rounded out the scoring with a break from half way, running past defenders and dribbling around the keeper to make it 3-0. The second half performance was not as dominant, but it was an opportunity for a few of the U13s to be tested in an older age group. Lucas Mounarath and Junior Conde were standout younger players that stepped up.
U15s coached by Geoff Abrahams
4-0 win against Blacktown City
It was a fantastic performance from every player in the U15s against one of the heavyweights of the National Premier League competition. Two goals went to Mansour El Masri who has been very impressive recently. Regular goal scorer Dean Bosnjak also got on the scoresheet and a signature Miguel Dipizo screamer capped off a performance to be proud of. The side showed great consistency in their football, focusing on only on executing the tactics they have been working on at training.
U16s coached by Shaf Sagol
4-2 win against Blacktown City
The U16s consistency over the last month has continued, securing a 4-2 victory against a very physical Blacktown City side. Ball circulation and support play was a big contributor in the Wanderers dominating the game from get go. The opposition didn’t have an answer when trying to shut down the Red & Black’s build-up play which allowed the U16s to have a lot of time on the ball to create goal scoring opportunities. Goal scorers were Peter Dendrinos, Jason Cakovski, Alexander Badolato and Jessie Photi.
U18s coached by Tom Vidovic
2-0 loss against Blacktown City
Despite dominating the first half, the U16s went down 1-0 after conceding a free kick. Both sides had opportunities in the second half to add to the scoresheet, but unfortunately for the Red & Black it was Blacktown who doubled their lead.
U20s coached by Yianni Tsattalios
1-0 win against Mt Druitt Town Rangers
The U20s secured thier second win of the season with a 1-0 win over Mt Druitt. The Red & Black dominated possession and looked in control of the match creating plenty of goal scoring chances. Despite this, they were made to work hard for their goal and it wasn’t until Stefan Nikolic rifled the ball into the top corner of the net in the 54th minute that they went ahead. The U20s will be looking to build on this performance against Rockdale this weekend.
