Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the re-signing of young guns Danika Matos and Chloe Middleton for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.

The youngsters and close friends were train-ons with the Red & Black’s Westfield W-League team last season and were promoted to full-time contracts in early January.

Middleton featured in five matches in the Wanderers midfield last season while defender Matos made three appearances.

Head coach Dean Heffernan said he was delighted to work again with the dynamic duo.

“Both Danika and Chloe bring a fantastic positive energy to the group,” said Heffernan.

“Playing in different areas, they both have different strengths and qualities and we’re looking forward to them continuing their development at the club.”

Matos said she was grateful for another experience in the Westfield W-League with the Red & Black.

“I learnt so much from all players last season and  everyone was so supportive and made me feel at ease in my first season of the Westfield W-League,” said Matos.

“I learnt so much throughout the season, I developed as a player and gained so much confidence.

“I’d like to develop even more as a player and try to play as many games as possible in the Red & Black jersey.

“I’d love to see us make Semi Finals again and go that step forward to make it to the Final and make even more history for the club.”

Middleton said she was excited to keep learning and developing at the Wanderers.

“My first season in the Westfield W-League with the Wanderers was such an amazing experience,” said Middleton.

“To be able to train and play alongside such quality players has made me work harder and become a better player.

“So I’m super excited to be back at the Wanderers for a second season, personally I want to keep learning and growing within my game and become a stronger player.

“Having such a great coaching team at the Wanderers I believe will continue to help me in all aspects of the game and I hope I can experience more games this season.”
