Western Sydney Wanderers FC defender Patrick Ziegler has officially become an Australian citizen.
The 30-year-old defender joined the Red & Black in September 2018 after an extensive career in Germany which saw him play for clubs such as SpvVgg Unterhaching, Paderborn 07, and Kaiserslautern.
Ziegler has a strong connection to Australia with his father being born and raised in the country before his parents decided to move to Germany on a full-time basis.
The defender has featured in 21 matches for the Wanderers since joining the club, scoring one goal.
Ziegler said that he was proud to call himself an Australian.
“After a long process, I am very happy that I can call myself Australian and happy that my family can share this special moment with me,” said Ziegler.
“When we first landed in Western Sydney two years ago, we saw Australia as a big adventure at the right time of my career and we are now happy to call this safe and healthy country our home.
“We love the Australian lifestyle and love it here!”
