Midfielder Keanu Baccus on continuing to build momentum in Sunday’s clash against Wellington at WIN Stadium.
The Red & Black have had just over a week to prepare for the clash after their previous fixture set for last Saturday night got rescheduled.
For Baccus and the Wanderers, the extended time to prepare for the match is an opportunity they have embraced to reset and refresh.
“It’s been a long week, we’ve rested our legs and now we’re ready for Sunday,” said Baccus.
“I think any team in the league this season is dangerous. It’s an important game.”
All eyes on Sunday will be on the midfield battle between Wellington’s Cameron Devlin and Baccus, who are both fighting for a very important spot in the Australian Olympic Team.
“Obviously, he’s in the middle as well as we’re both midfielders. I’m not sure if he’s playing, but I just want to have a good performance and get a win for the club,” said Baccus.
“(Devlin) was also here at the Wanderers Academy (before Sydney FC) so we grew up together as we played in the same age agroups. It always adds a bit of friendly competition.”
It may be early days but the Wanderers will be looking to continue building on their recent momentum with every match proving to be very important for their Finals Series target this season.
“I think that’s the league, anything goes. We have to concentrate on ourselves and what we’ve been doing,” said Baccus.
“Our form has been good so we must keep that on the incline.
“We need to take every game seriously as we need to make Finals football this year.”
