The program which has been designed to advance the skills of 7-12 year old players is open to both girls and boys who want to develop their football skills under the guidance of Wanderers Academy coaches.

Products of the Wanderers Academy, Mark Natta and Daniel Wilmering, visited the Sunday session to meet the next generation of Wanderers Academy hopefuls as well as help out with the session.

Natta spoke highly of the program which takes the next step in a child’s football development journey.

“It’s great to see the young players training with our Academy coaches to develop their skills and hopefully eventually make their way into the Wanderers Academy,” said Natta.

“The players have been having fun, developing their skills on our great pitches here enjoying the game.

“I think the Wanderers Academy is one of the best in this country and it shows with the amount of players we have playing in the first team from the Academy.

“The grounds here are spectacular, there are nine pitches for all the ages to play and train on. There are so many opportunities here to play on the best facilities possible to develop your skills. These facilities have given the club the opportunity to run programs like this and they are the perfect facilities for all the kids to play on.”

Wilmering praised the program’s efforts in helping identify talent early in a competitive and fun environment.

“I think it’s really good, Mark (Natta) and I didn’t have the Pre-Academy Development Program growing up but I think it’s a really good way to help identify talent at an earlier age, and hopefully we can get the best players into our Academy and continue developing them from there,” explained Wilmering.

“I don’t think I’d be in the position that I am today without the coaching staff we have here, especially the Academy, so any kid would be lucky to work with them in the program.”
