On Wednesday, 16 June 2021, the Football Australia Independent Disciplinary & Ethics Committee comprising Anthony Lo Surdo SC (Chair), Ben Jones and David Barrett (the Committee) convened to consider an incident referred to it, which occurred in or around the 36th minute of Western Sydney Wanderers’ Match Week 24 A-League match against Adelaide United on Thursday, 3 June 2021.

The incident involved Western Sydney Wanderers player, Tass Mourdoukoutas (Mourdoukoutas).

On 7 June 2021, the Independent Match Review Panel (MRP) determined that Mourdoukoutas had committed the offence of “Serious foul play (e.g. when challenging for the ball)”. The MRP proposed a sanction of two (2) matches, being the minimum sanction for the offence plus one (1) additional match.

Mourdoukoutas referred the matter to the Committee for hearing and determination of what additional sanction should be imposed above the minimum sanction (inclusive of the Mandatory Match Suspension which must always be served), applying the Range at the Table of Offences.

The Committee has reserved their determination. Further details will be made available upon release of the Committee’s determination, which will occur in due course.
