The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers earned their first clean sheet of the season with a 0-0 draw in the second Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

An energetic start by both sides set the scene for what would be another enthralling Sydney Derby.

In what was his second start as a Wanderer, Vedran Janjetovic was put to the test on mutiple ocassions early on, most notably making a gravity-defying save to deny Alex Wilkinson’s header.

There was controversery after the Wanderers were denied a seeminhly blatant penalty for a handball after Nico Martínez’s cross struck the hand of Michael Zullo.

The Wanderers continued to push, as a clever cross by the ever-dangerous Martínez was met by Lachlan Scott who couldn’t get enough on his header to trouble Danny Vukovic in goals.

After a brilliant turn, Martinez made his way through the Sky Blue’s defence and sent a through ball to Lachlan Scott whose header was saved.

Janjetovic was kept busy at the other end, getting down well to deny a Bobo.

Jaushua Sotirio tried his luck from distance, before a Scott Neville drive from outside the box forced Vukovic to tip the ball over to safety.

Despite an excitng, open-ended finish from both sides, it would end 0-0, with the Wanderes walking away with their first clean sheet of the season.
