2024 Future Wander Women Squad Announced

The squad has been confirmed for the 2024 Future Wander Women Program.

This year, the FREE program has expanded to 100 participants (including 10 goalkeepers) and up to U18s players thanks to the support of the NSW Government, Wanderers Foundation and contributors, Carer Gateway – Wellways, Cook’s Plumbing Supplies, Scendar, Vaccaro Group, Business NSW, Business Western Sydney, Intermain and Western Sydney University.

Running over Terms 2 and 3 of the school calendar in a 20-week block, the Future Wander Women Program is an opportunity to be discovered, mentored and developed as the next superstar in Western Sydney.

The program will have an All Star line-up of coaches including Wanderers Head of Women’s Football Tom Sermanni, Wanderers Liberty A-League head coach Robbie Hooker, Wanderers Liberty A-League assistant coach Sam McGowan, Wanderers community coaches Geoff Abrahams and Linda Khamis as well as Wanderers Academy Goalkeeping coach and Australian football legend Jimmy Fraser.

The program will officially kicked off last night at Wanderers Football Park with players being taught new skills and techniques to improve their game based on the club’s highly regarded coaching curriculum.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said he was proud of the program’s expansion and growth in its third year.

“When we launched the Future Wander Women Program in 2021, it was the first of its kind and we were determined to be able to create a free elite pathway for the next generation of superstars,” said Hudson.

“With the support of the Wanderers Foundation and a number of fantastic donors, we have been able to expand the program every single year to give more young female players the opportunity to learn and train in the Wanderers environment.

“This year we had over 500 young players trial for the program, which is an astonishing amount and speaks to the level of interest we have had in this quality program.

“I congratulate the 100 players that have been selected in the 2024 Future Wander Women squad and look forward to seeing them in the future playing for our Liberty A-League team.”
