Abdul-Rahman signs two-year scholarship deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed that forward Alaat Abdul-Rahman has signed a two-year scholarship deal with the Red & Black.

The 18 year-old forward has progressed through the Western Sydney Wanderers Academy system, having been with the club since the age of 14, and currently features in the National Premier Leagues NSW.

Abdul-Rahman made his senior debut during the 2024/25 season, coming on as a substitute in a 2–1 home victory against Macarthur FC. Showing his competitive edge with a strong challenge late in the match, he marked a confident introduction to senior football.

Head coach Alen Stajcic congratulated Alaat on the scholarship.

“We’d like to congratulate Alaat and his family on this special moment in his career,” said Stajcic.

“He’s worked hard through the Academy pathway and we’ve been really pleased with his development and attitude since joining the senior environment.

“We’re excited to see how he continues to progress over the next two seasons.”

Abdul-Rahman said he was grateful to be given the opportunity to represent his hometown club.

“Signing a professional contract has always been a dream of mine since a kid and to sign for the club that I grew up playing for and watching, I couldn’t deny the offer to sign with the club,” said Abdul-Rahman.

“Over the next 2 years I’m looking to building on my debut making more appearances and grab some goals, and eventually becoming a consistent player in the squad.

“It’s an honour to sign with the club I’ve been with since 14, I’m very grateful for this opportunity from the club and hope to make you all proud.

“I’d like to thank my family, coaches, the club and everyone who has supported me along the way.”
