The Western Sydney Wanderers Pre-Academy Development Program has enjoyed a record-breaking term, with close to 600 young footballers taking part across Western Sydney.
The milestone represents the program’s largest participation to date, as more young players and families continue to connect with the Wanderers and take the next step in their football journey.
With registrations now open for Term 4, the program will continue to provide young players with a dedicated environment to remain active, sharpen their skills and continue their development throughout the football off-season.
Sessions will be delivered across Western Sydney at Wanderers Football Park, Endeavour Sports Park in Fairfield, Mamre Anglican College in Kemps Creek and Western Sydney University’s Parramatta South Campus, providing families with a range of options to access the program.
Dedicated Girls Only sessions will also be available on Sundays at Wanderers Football Park, while young goalkeepers can take advantage of a specialised goalkeeper training program held on Mondays at Wanderers Football Park.
Building towards the season ahead
Term 4 marks the beginning of the Preparation phase of the Pre-Academy Development Program, with Term 4 and Term 1 designed to help players build the foundations they need ahead of the upcoming football season.
The Preparation phase places a strong focus on developing individual techniques that support long-term player development.
Through dedicated training sessions, players will work on the technical foundations that build confidence on the ball, improve sharpness and execution of their skills, and develop the fitness required to compete.
Rather than putting development on hold during the off-season, the program gives young footballers the opportunity to continue progressing in an environment designed to challenge, encourage and prepare them for what comes next.
The Pre-Academy Development Program forms an important part of the Wanderers’ commitment to developing football across Western Sydney, creating more opportunities for young players to learn, improve and enjoy the game.
All players registered in the Pre-Academy Development Program will also receive access to the WanderKid program, further connecting young footballers with the Red & Black.
Following a record-breaking term of close to 600 participants, registrations are now open for Term 4 across all locations and programs.
