Appiah-Kubi Excited About Heart Fixture

Appiah-Kubi Excited About Heart Fixture

With the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers pre-season camp three quarters of the way complete, the focus is now well and truly on the club’s first pre-season fixture against a fellow Hyundai A-League club, the Melbourne Heart.

With the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers pre-season camp three quarters of the way complete, the focus is now well and truly on the club-s first pre-season fixture against a fellow Hyundai A-League club, the Melbourne Heart.

For young gun Kwabena Appiah-Kubi the experience has been an unforgettable one, and one of many first time experiences. This is the 20-year-old-s first professional contract and having the opportunity to train full-time and focus solely on his football is one that he is enjoying immensely.

“It-s great, this is the first camp I-ve been on as a professional player, so getting to know the guys a lot more and spend quality time together is definitely going to be of great benefit down the track,” he said.
“It-s a different experience but it-s good to be away from home and focus entirely on our football and preparation.”

The local junior believes that the 1-nil victory over the Wolves in Brisbane on Tuesday night was a close match and one that proved to be of benefit, but the he knows that Friday night will be the club-s biggest test yet when they take on the Heart at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

“It will obviously be our biggest test so far, of course we are looking for a victory but I think the biggest thing for us will be to get the things right that we have been working on through the pre-season,” he added.

Although happy to be away from home and training full-time, Appiah-Kubi admits it has taken a bit of getting used to.

“It-s definitely tiring on the body,” he said. “When you-re turning up every day and putting your body through a lot it takes some getting used to, but in saying that, I-m loving every minute of it and wouldn-t change a thing.”
