Boade ready for Australian adventure

Wanderers new signing Tess Boade on making the move to Australia after her rookie season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Boade has joined the club this season on loan from giants North Carolina Courage where she was part of the side that won the 2022 Challenge Cup.

Reflecting on her first season in the NWSL, Boade believes the competitive environment helped bring out the best in her.

“After just completing my rookie season in the NWSL, I have learned many things and have grown immensely as a player,” explained Boade.

“It was an immediate adjustment as I became teammates with players I had looked up to for years.

“The NWSL is a highly competitive league that league that teaches you to bring your best every single day.”

This season with the Wanderers will mark Boade’s first outside of the United States with the 23-year-old excited to play her part in the Liberty A-Leagues growth.

“I am new to the Liberty A-League and have been enjoying learning the history of the league,” said Boade.

“I know the league is growing and the competition is improving every year.

“I am excited to play my part and watch it grow.”

The Wanderers will open their season next weekend in Tamworth where they will face the Newcastle Jets with Boade confident in the team’s potential in getting some positive results this season.

“As a team, the expectations are high,” explained Boade.

“This is a young squad with a lot of potential. I’m excited to battle for the top of the table this season.

“On a personal level, I am hoping to take my game to the next level and help prepare myself as well for the upcoming season in the NWSL.”
