The Wanderers head into Saturday night’s massive fixture against the Mariners with plenty of momentum, having been undefeated so far this Isuzu UTE A-Leagues season.

Borrello opened his goalscoring account last Friday night in the Red & Black’s 2-0 win over the Jets and said the goal was the culmination of the side’s hard-work during pre-season.

“I was just happy to score, obviously, but the amount of hard work that the boys put in today that was a classic game,” said Borrello.

“It just shows what we’ve done all pre-season. We worked hard, we kept it simple today, we played to our strengths and we got rewarded.”

Borrello spoke highly of the passionate Wanderers members and fans which he hopes will return in numbers to CommBank Stadium this Saturday night for the Men’s sides final home match of the season.

“It’s obviously one of our goals this year to make our home stadium an absolute fortress,” said Borrello.

“We had to improve from last week where we scored a goal and then we dropped off, this week we just kept chipping at them.

“The boys knew it was going to be hard work but that’s what this club is about. “

One of new signings at the club this season, Borrello has been a standout performer but won’t be taking any of the sole credit for the club’s recent performances.

“I’m not going to take all the glory. You’ve got Ninkovic, Amalfitano, Krpic or Yengi. I could go on about every single one of the boys,” explained Borrello.

“We’re proud at the moment. We’ve started really well and want to keep that momentum.”
