The Western Sydney Wanderers will head into Saturday night’s Local Rivalry against Macarthur FC with momentum firmly on their side, as an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 A-League Men season and an impressive recent record at Campbelltown set the stage for another exciting encounter.
Under head coach Ufuk Talay, the Red & Black have made an encouraging start to the new campaign, collecting four points from their opening two matches to sit second on the A-League Men ladder.
Following a hard-fought goalless Sydney Derby in Matchweek 1, the Wanderers produced a five-goal display against Auckland FC at CommBank Stadium last Saturday, coming from behind to record a memorable 5-2 victory.
Now, attention turns to another local rival, with the Wanderers looking to continue their unbeaten run and build on a history of strong performances against the Bulls.
A happy hunting ground at Campbelltown
Campbelltown Sports Stadium has provided the Wanderers with some memorable moments in recent seasons.
The Red & Black are unbeaten in their last three visits to Macarthur, recording two victories and a draw while scoring eight goals across those encounters.
Their most recent trip, in February 2026, delivered one of the club’s most commanding performances against the Bulls, with a 4-0 victory highlighted by goals from Steven Ugarkovic, Bozhidar Kraev, Ryan Fraser and Brandon Borrello.
That result continued a competitive history between the two Western Sydney clubs, with the Wanderers holding the advantage across their 17 A-League Men meetings.
The Red & Black have recorded seven victories to Macarthur’s six, with four matches ending in draws.
Goals have rarely been in short supply either, with the Wanderers scoring 35 times against the Bulls and the two sides combining for an average of 3.47 goals per meeting.

Five goals. Five different goalscorers.
One of the most encouraging signs from the Wanderers’ opening two Matchweeks has been the variety of attacking threats within Talay’s side.
Five different players found the back of the net in Saturday’s victory over Auckland FC, with captain Brandon Borrello joined on the scoresheet by Liam Gillion, Nicolas Milanovic, Miguel Di Pizio and Atiya Waraga.
It is a level of attacking depth unmatched by any other A-League Men side across the opening two Matchweeks.
The numbers also reflect the Wanderers’ growing attacking ambition.
The Red & Black are averaging 2.5 goals per match, while their 3.5 expected goals (xG) ranks second in the competition, highlighting the quality of opportunities created in the early stages of the campaign.
At the other end of the pitch, the Wanderers have also shown encouraging defensive resilience, recording a clean sheet against Sydney FC and ranking equal-second in the competition for the lowest expected goals against (xGA), at 1.4.

Young Wanderers making their mark
The opening two Matchweeks have also provided an opportunity for several of the club’s emerging talents to make an early impact.
Midfielder Miguel Di Pizio has been particularly lively in the attacking third, registering seven shot attempts to sit second in the A-League Men for shots across the opening two matches.
The midfielder was rewarded for his attacking intent with a goal against Auckland, adding his name to an increasingly diverse Wanderers scoresheet.
Dylan Scicluna has also emerged as an influential creative presence, registering two assists from his opening two appearances.
His contribution places him among the competition’s leading creators, with his ability to unlock opposition defences providing another dimension to the Wanderers’ attacking play.
Meanwhile, Waraga’s late strike against Auckland demonstrated the impact available from the bench, with the young forward adding the finishing touch to a memorable evening at Wanderland.

Building momentum into another rivalry
With an unbeaten start, five different goalscorers and a strong recent record at Campbelltown, the Wanderers have plenty of reasons to approach Saturday night’s contest with confidence.
Macarthur will present another difficult challenge, having also collected four points from their opening two matches, setting up an early-season meeting between two sides yet to taste defeat.
For Talay’s men, it represents another opportunity to demonstrate their attacking identity, build consistency and continue setting the standard for the season ahead.
The Wanderers face Macarthur FC this Saturday 31 October at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:40pm AEDT.
