Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of defender Phillip Cancar on a one-year deal.
Cancar comes to the Wanderers from a recent stint overseas with Croatian side NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
The 19-year-old defender has frequented Young Socceroos representative lists and is set to play in his first A-League season with the Wanderers.
Cancar said he was excited to learn from the coaching staff and fellow players.
“I thought the Wanderers would be the perfect move for me as the team has high-quality players and coaches to learn from everyday,” said Cancar.
“Being 16 when I went to Europe and living most of the time alone was a massive experience for me. I think it made me mature more as a person and as a footballer.
“I’m excited to work under such a great coach in Carl Robinson and his coaching staff as well as to be able to learn from them and the more experienced players in the club as much as I can.
“A club like the Wanderers such a great history and an amazing fan base so it’s a dream come true.”
