Ahead of the Western Sydney Wanderers historic clash against Everton FC at CommBank Stadium, Wanderers forward Jarrod Carluccio had the special opportunity to meet his life-long hero Blues head coach Frank Lampard.
Carluccio, a product of the Wanderers Academy, has been a passionate Frank Lampard fan since birth and was presented a jersey by his hero last night at Everton’s final training session in Australia.
“Love is a strong word, but it’s one that fits,” said Carluccio his love for Everton head coach Frank Lampard.
“Growing up my family were all Chelsea fans, and I still am, and having someone like Frank Lampard part of such a successful Chelsea squad and being able to idolise someone like him is really special to me.
“Something that I’ve seen grow throughout my football career is seeing little bits and parts of his game that I’ve tried to mirror and show in my own.
“It’s an unbelievable experience to be part of this whole journey up until now and have him come to our stadium in Western Sydney is something I never imagined.”
Carluccio took the opportunity to thank Lampard for the influence he has had on his career both on and off the field.
“Just thank you, thank you. It’s hard because he wouldn’t know who I am in a normal circumstance. But to say just thank you for not only his playing career but to him as a person for how he’s influenced me without ever realising that.
“Thank you.”
The Wanderers would like thank Everton FC for organising the special opportunity for Jarrod Carluccio.
