The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers held a ‘Thank You- BBQ for club volunteers with the support of Channel 7 who hosted its Sports bulletin live from the Blacktown headquarters.

It was a fantastic event for all involved as the entire Wanderers playing squad posed for photos and signed items for those generous people who give their time to the club.

Wanderers supporter and Channel 7 News Sports Presenter and Editor Jim Wilson, performed two live crosses from Blacktown for the 4.45pm and 6pm bulletins.

Volunteers were treated to a BBQ cooked by staff and Wanderers players including Shinji Ono, Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Labinot Haliti and Kwabena Appiah-Kubi.

It was a great opportunity for those people who dedicate their time to the club on match days to have their chance to get close to the players and take home some memorabilia.

Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman said the function was club-s way of saying ‘thank you- to the volunteers who were a major part of the ‘Wanderers family- and a great opportunity to get to know each other more closely.

“This club values extremely highly the time, hard work and passion that its volunteers put in to make sure its Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and National Youth League matches and other events are a major success,” Gorman said.

“There are hundreds of people that put in hours and hours of work so this club can run its events and set a new standard in presentation and community engagement.

“I want to personally thank everyone who has volunteered their time and contributed to the success our club is experiencing.

“It was great to see the staff and all of the players interacting with the volunteers in what was a great example of a ‘Wanderers family- gathering.”

The club is looking forward to seeing everyone all over again on Sunday for the match against Wellington Phoenix at Parramatta Stadium at 5pm.
