The former West Brom, Norwich, and Rangers midfielder has joined the club after a spell at Dundee FC in the Scottish Championship where he played 27 games.

With nearly 400 professional games for club and country to his name, Dorrans arrives with significant experience playing in some of the toughest leagues in world football.

“It’s great to be here first and foremost and it’s exciting times ahead for the club and for myself,” said Dorrans.

“The club obviously looked after me during my two-week stint in hotel quarantine and got some facilities in but it’s nothing like actually playing a football match.”

Dorrans’ move to Western Sydney marks the first overseas club for the midfielder, something he knew he would one day experience during his career.

“I’ve always looked at my career that one day I’d go and try to play in a different country,” said Dorrans.

“So the opportunity came up and I spoke to the manager, spoke to Kenny Miller and it’s exciting times for the club.

“The club had instant success when they started up and probably underachieved over the last couple of years.

“Having spoken to the manager and Kenny, and knowing how Kenny likes to play, I know the standards they will set. The way they want to play excites me and I’m looking forward to implementing it on the pitch. “

Looking ahead to the Wanderers first home match against Macarthur Bulls, Dorrans said he was excited to play infront of the Red & Black faithful.

“We just need to take each game as it comes, we have new players, we have new staff and we’ve got an opportunity to go and set a marker,” said Dorrans.

“It’s exciting to also have fans in the stadium as back home fans haven’t been allowed back in the stadiums.

“I’ve heard how passionate they are here at the club so I’m looking forward to playing in front of them and the boys will be ready.”
