On Sunday morning, the Red & Black will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they face Central Coast Mariners at Marconi Stadium.
Arthur Diles’ side will be coming into the match with a solid 2-0 victory over Canberra United at the same venue.
Central Coast currently occupy second place in the Foxtel Y-League Group B, one place ahead of the Wanderers, following a win and a draw in their opening two games.
There could be some familiar faces in the Mariners side with former Wanderers Academy players John Roberts, Dylan Ruiz-Diaz and Mario Shabow all featuring in their last match, a 3-3 stalemate against Sydney FC.
Sunday’s fixture will also be a homecoming of sorts for Wanderers player Mohamed Al Taay who played his junior football for Marconi Stallions.
The 19-year-old has featured regularly for the Academy over the last two years and while he usually lines up as a central defender, Al Taay is also dependable when playing at right-back or in central midfield.
Fabian Monge will also be one to watch on Sunday. The central midfielder is another Marconi junior and scored in the Wanderers last Foxtel Y-League meeting with Central Coast last December.
After consistent excellent performances for the Academy, Monge was rewarded with a scholarship contract with the Hyundai A-League in February.
A few months later, the 18-year-old was named 2018/19 Foxtel Y-League Player of the Year.
Entry to this match is free for all Wanderers members.
