Fransen pens two-year scholarship deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed that defender Ricky Fransen has signed a two-year scholarship deal with the Red & Black.

The 18 year-old defender joined the Western Sydney Wanderers Academy in 2023 with the U16s and has since progressed through the Academy, featuring for the club in the National Premier Leagues NSW over the past two seasons.

Fransen made his debut for the Wanderers’ NPL side at just 16 years old during a match against Rockdale Ilinden during the 2023/24 season. His performance highlighted his readiness for senior football.

Head Coach Alen Stajcic said he was looking forward to being part of Ricky’s football journey.

“We are very proud to have Ricky sign a two-year scholarship deal as we look to build on his strong foundations and continue his development with the Wanderers,” said Stajcic.

Fransen said he was delighted to be signing a scholarship contract with the Wanderers.

“I am incredibly excited to have received this opportunity. Football has always been a passion of mine, and signing with the Wanderers is a fantastic step forward in my development, both as a player and as a person,” said Fransen.

“The next two years are crucial, and I’m committed to continuing to improve and becoming a valuable part of the Wanderers squad. My personal goals include making my debut and contributing to the team’s success in winning games and ultimately competing for silverware.

“I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started and represent this amazing club.

“A special thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, especially my parents and coaches, who have played such an important role in shaping me into the footballer and person I am today.”
